Hi friends! As I mentioned in the last post we had some internet issues, so that’s why I have been so quiet. It feels good to be back in this space, although I feel like I don’t even know where to begin catching up on everything. I guess I will start by filling you in on some of my favorites lately.
This little lady is developing quite the personality and is so fun to be around. One of our favorite activities is to meet up with friends at our local coffee shops. Leighton has become quite fond of babychinos and prefers to hold them herself and dive in face first. She loves just sitting in the high chair and people (or dog) watching although she gets quite frustrated if she can’t get everyone’s attention.
Someone from the Trip Scout app reached out to me recently about trying out one of their city guides. Since we don’t have any travel plans on the horizon (we need to fix that) I went and downloaded the Sydney guide just to get a feel of what their guides were like. Trip Scout offers guides for over 50 cities and the best part is they can work with your GPS even when you are offline. Just by looking at your map you can find nearby attractions and lead yourself on a walking tour. They even provide the audio commentary.
If you have any upcoming trips or just want to check out a guide, you can use the code: alkeksabroad to get one for free! Happy Travels 🙂
These aren’t actually new, but just new to me. I am pretty obsessed with listening to podcasts while I get things done during the nap time hustle. I tend to gravitate to unsolved murder type podcasts, but for my mental health I decided to look for something a bit lighter. The first one I listened to was Jamie Ivey’s Happy Hour interview with Catherine Lowe (because Bachelor) and really loved it. Now I am hooked on listening to all of them!
I have always been a big Jen Hatmaker fan, so when I heard she started a podcast I knew it would be something I would enjoy. She interviews different women every week and they are always SO interesting and inspiring.
Being from Texas I have always been a big iced tea drinker. It wasn’t until we moved to Australia that I started drinking hot tea, usually in the evenings before bed. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a flat white or latte at the coffee shop but I have been getting tired of drinking my sub par coffee at home all morning. So I went and visited my local T2 (like Teavana in the States) and bought a sweet black tea for me to drink in the mornings to replace my cup of joe.
It’s the Terrific Toffee loose leaf tea and it is absolutely amazing. I add a bit of Coconut Almond milk in it and I swear I am drinking a Toblerone bar.
It’s been a while since the three of us have been on a day trip. Since the weather is warming up, last Saturday we decided to hit the road and head to the coast. One of the Gold Coast suburbs, Currumbin, was hosting an art sculpture festival on the beach. We had so much fun walking around and checking all of them out.
I think the best part was Leighton leading Travis on a long walk on the beach which allowed me a few minutes of relaxation. We ended the afternoon at the surf club for lunch and Leighton was so patient when we had to wait almost an hour for our food (toddler nightmare). I can’t wait for it to warm up more, so we can spend more weekends on the coast.
That’s all for today. Have a great weekend!
